PROGRAM SERVICES

TELEVISION PROGRAMMING & BROADCASTING.

AKTV has two different channels broadcast 8,760 hours (24 hours a day, 365 days a year) of programming annually on five satellites, reaching Muslim and Christian Arabic speakers around the world. The satellites and where they broadcast are:

  • Galaxy 19: USA, Canada, Mexico, and surrounding islands
  • Nile Sat : Middle East, North Africa
  • Hotbird 6 : Middle East, North Africa, and Europe
  • Optus D2 Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, and surrounding islands
  • Hispasat: South America

AKTV has two different channels—one airs on Galaxy 19 and one airs on all other satellites. While most of the programming is similar, the main difference is that fundraising is only conducted on the channel aired on Galaxy 19 (which reaches North America). There is also a slightly stronger evangelistic message on the other channel.

AKTV produces approximately 1,000 hours annually of programming in its studios (all other programming is produced by partner ministries, see list, below). A large portion of AKTV’s pro-grams are recorded and vary in subject, style, and presentation, but generally fall into these categories:

  • Bible study in a small group or a classroom setting
  • A host that tackles a subject with a mix of videos and guest discussions
  • A 2- or 3-person hosted talk show
  • Full drama, or a drama followed with analysis and discussion
  • Youth programming that involves a lively group dialogue, openly dis-cussing issues like addiction, dating, and sex from a Christian perspective
  • Christian songs and video clips
  • Recorded church services and worship
  • Programs focused on women’s issues
  • Kids programs

AKTV also produces nine live programs and a daily 30-minute live newscast. The majority of live shows are hosted programs that allow viewers to call in to ask questions and request prayer.

Together on Air. This weekly 2-hour program includes three segments. “From Heart to Heart” explains how to express what is in one’s heart with God and others. It also focuses on the role of women in the family and in ministry. “Our Lives & Our Relationships” teaches how to build relationships with God and each other, tackling spiritual issues and family challenges. “Invitation to Freedom” explains real freedom from the biblical perspective.

Behind the Scenes. Hosted three times weekly, this 90-minute pro-gram analyzes the Middle Eastern political and social scene from a Christian perspective. Political and Christian leaders are interviewed.

Hearts That Don’t Tremble. This 1-hour weekly program reaches out to the fearful with a message of hope and peace, speaking God’s promises out loud.

Al Karma Live Show. This 2-hour weekly program tackles family issues that relate to maintaining a true Christian family in a secular culture. Guests are speakers from around the world.

Together, Towards a Better World. This 2-hour weekly live show teaches how to apply God’s word to the practical aspects of Christian life, from many perspectives (e.g., social, medical, and cultural). The program hosts ministry leaders, Christian doc-tors, and field experts.

Egypt, Which We Don’t Know. This 90-minute weekly program discuses the current Egyptian political scene in light of the country’s Christian his-tory. It aims to raise awareness of the Islamic agenda as Islamic extremists try to take over the country.

From Life. This 2-hour weekly show invites qualified psychiatrists and spiritual counselors to address common life struggles from a Christian perspective. Youth and family issues are the focus.

Sons of Abraham. This weekly 90-minute program encourages open dialogue between Muslims and Christians. Guests include Muslim background believers (MBBs), Islamic leaders, and imams of mosques.

Weekly Live Churches. Live broad-cast from: Kasr El Dobara Church, the most prominent evangelical church in the Arab world, and St. Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo, one the largest Coptic churches in Egypt.

Muslim background believers (MBBs) host 3-4 of AKTV’s recorded programs, plus appear as guests on live shows.

General Program Effectiveness

AKTV programs are effective in introducing Arabic speakers to the Christian faith, in many instances causing them to make a decision for Christ, and discipline them in their Christian walk.

CLIENT NEED

In many areas of the world, Arabic speakers have never heard the true Gospel message and are searching for a personal relationship with a Savior that cares about them.

DU R A T I ON O F IMP A C T ON CL I E NT S SE R V E D

When AKTV’s ultimate goal of bringing viewers to salvation in Christ is achieved, the impact in their lives is eternal. Discipline Christians in their faith walk also has the potential for an enduring impact on viewer’s lives.

PR O G R AM IMP A C T

AKTV receives thousands of responses each year, thanking the ministry for its programming and follow-up. These letters and calls are evidence of the personal impact AKTV’s programming is having on its viewing audience.

RE P O R T E D ME T R I C S

AKTV has a thorough system where viewer responses and subsequent follow-up actions are tracked in the Do-nor Perfect software. Letters and other written correspondence are maintained in binders and filed by year received. In 2010, AKTV reported the following outputs:

90,000 phone calls to the follow-up center

302,516 unique visitors to the web-site; 33,863,805 hits on the website

32,950 requests for prayers and guidance

70,000 fulfilled material requests to viewers (Bibles, Jesus Film DVD, DVD copies of AKTV programs, Christian booklets, etc.)
